Rep. Bacon Announces Grant Award for Neighborhood Transformation
OMAHA, NE – U.S. Representative Don Bacon along with local leaders announced today the awarding of a $25 million Choice Neighborhood Implementation Grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to the City of Omaha, Omaha Housing Authority and their community partners. The project is one of three being awarded nationally.
“Families who face income, educational, and health disparities in the proposed project location will have their lives improved with the replacement of distressed housing,” said Rep. Bacon. “The City of Omaha, Omaha Housing Authority and 75 North have designed an impressive privately and publicly funded project with the input of many neighbors in the area, and I know they will make a tremendous impact for generations to come.”
In addition to affordable mixed-income housing, a stronger connection to the neighborhood school, and infrastructure amenities are included in the project, which will lead to safer and healthier active lifestyles.
Rep. Bacon had sent a letter to HUD in support of Omaha’s application.
