Bacon Votes Yes to Supplemental Funding to Fight Coronavirus Washington, D.C. - Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) and House colleagues voted yes on a bipartisan piece of legislation to pass funding to ensure our nation is prepared in the event of a disease outbreak amid emerging health threats abroad. “With so many questions and concerns regarding the coronavirus, my House colleagues and I have come together to replenish reserve funds to continue to address the virus at home and abroad,” said Rep. Bacon. “This will help us to expedite vaccine development, purchase essential equipment and supplies, and assist state and local health departments.” Of the $8.3 billion appropriation, $20 million will be used to administer disaster assistance loans for small businesses impacted by the virus. “Our small businesses are the backbone of America and some will be hit hard if they have even one person out ill,” said Rep. Bacon. “And with people ‘self-quarantining themselves, people will not be out spending their hard-earned dollars at local restaurants, entertainment venues or stores.” In addition, Rep. Bacon was happy to see that nearly $1 billion will be designated for state and local response efforts as he recently met with local health and county officials. ### |
