Education Leader to Join Bacon at SOTU

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Don Bacon (Ne-02) will be joined at this year’s State of the Union Address by local education leader Toba Cohen-Dunning. Cohen-Dunning is the Executive Director of the Omaha Public Schools Foundation.

As Executive Director, Cohen-Dunning is responsible for all fundraising efforts and overseeing the Foundation’s parent-pay childcare business and early childhood classrooms. Most importantly the Foundation funds learning experiences, career development opportunities, and scholarships that inspire students to achieve their dreams.

“A successful educational path for our youth also includes those who work beyond the classroom by bringing attention to the need for funding for scholarships and other educational experiences,” said Rep. Bacon. “Toba utilizes a creative public and private partnership to create more opportunities for students in our state’s largest school district.”

In November of 2019, Cohen-Dunning and the Foundation were recognized by the Partners for Livable Communities for this partnership.

In addition to her work with the Foundation, Cohen-Dunning recently completed a term as a Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League, Plain States Region. She currently is serving a two-year term as the first President of the National School Foundation Association from Nebraska. In Omaha, Cohen-Dunning serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Beth Israel Synagogue, as co-president of Jewish Social Services, and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Jewish Federation of Omaha.
