Committees and Caucuses



In the current 115th Congress, Don serves on the House Committee on Agriculture, House Committee on Armed Services, and the House Homeland Security Committee:

The House Agriculture Committee has general jurisdiction over federal agriculture policy including agriculture, forestrynutrition, water conservation, and other agriculture-related fields.  The Committee can recommend funding appropriations for various governmental agencies, programs, and activities, as defined by House rules.   I currently serve on the following subcommittees:

The House Armed Services Committee is responsible for policy related to defense policy generally; ongoing military operations; the organization and reform of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy; counter-drug programs; acquisition and industrial base policy; technology transfer and export controls; joint interoperability; the Cooperative Threat Reduction program; Department of Energy nonproliferation programs; and detainee affairs and policy.  I currently serve on the following subcommittees:

The House Homeland Security Committee provides Congressional oversight for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and better protect the American people against a possible terrorist attack. This Congress, the Committee has passed several critical pieces of bipartisan, homeland security legislation to prevent terrorist attacks on the homeland, secure our borders, protect against cyber attacks, ensure the Department of Homeland Security runs efficiently, and shield the homeland from international and domestic threats.   I currently serve on the following subcommittees:

A caucus is an organization of Members of Congress interested in a particular issue or set of issues. Caucuses sponsor educational activities, such as briefings on timely topics or pending legislation, and sometimes encourage legislative action that will advance their members’ common goals.
