Military Academy Nominations

Thank you for contacting me with your interest in seeking a nomination to one of the United States military academies. I am pleased to consider you for possible nomination. Enclosed please find instructions for completing your application with my office and information about the military academies.

Application for Nomination-Instructions

*Please read all material and qualifications carefully and complete the application to its entirety.*

Qualifications:

  • Age: Must be at least 17, but not yet 22 years of age
  • Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen
  • Marital Status: Must not be married, pregnant or have legal obligation to support a child.
  • Residence: Must reside within the boundaries of the 2nd Congressional District of Nebraska
    • If your area of residence was affected by redistricting please apply through the District you are currently in, and not what goes into effect come January.
  • Skill: Must meet the medical, physical, and academic requirements of the academy

Must be submitted by midnight October 31, 2023 - Late applications will not be considered

Required Materials/steps:

  • Complete applicant information sheet online.

Email the following materials to Christopher.Garabrandt@mail.house.gov:

  • Current photo.

          Photo must be of the following file types: .jpg, .jpeg, .png

         Macintosh users: Your document must have a file extension. Resave it using your word processor with the appropriate extension from the above list.

  • A typed resume, no longer than two pages, covering employment history, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
  • Personal essay: This must be in your own words with a maximum of two pages, typed, double or single spaced.
    • The 2023 Essay question: In your own words, describe what you feel is the biggest challenge or issue our modern military faces today, and why?
  • Copy of the unofficial ACT &/or SAT scores.
    • You should also request the official scores be sent to the academies.
  • Official high school and college (if applicable) transcript.
    • Transcripts may take two to three weeks to process.

    Documents must be the following file types: .doc, .docx, .pdf, .txt

  • Three letters of recommendations written by three people who know you very well such as your employer, school counselor, or church leader.
