Bacon Votes to Rescind 87,000 IRS Agents

Washington, DC—Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today voted for H.R. 23, the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act, which would rescind certain allocations made available to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), including funding for the 87,000 IRS agents hired by the Biden Administration. This legislation protects middle-class families and small businesses while enhancing the services Americans expect to receive from their government.

“The IRS should be working for the American people, not against them,” said Bacon. “Taxpayers should feel safe and confident knowing their financial income and earnings will not be surveilled by the federal government, which is why I voted to rescind the 87,000 IRS agents hired to go over hard-working families and small business owners. We need more customer service, not four more army divisions of IRS agents. I thank Rep. Adrian Smith for his leadership on this vital legislation.”
