USDA looking at ASF vaccine, depopulation options

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) highlighted ways it was looking to combat a potential outbreak of African swine fever (ASF). During the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry hearing, “A Review of USDA Animal Disease and Response Efforts,” held April 18, USDA Marketing and Regulatory Programs Under Secretary Jenny Moffitt, and APHIS Veterinary Services Associate Deputy Administrator Alecia Naugle, fielded questions from subcommittee members about preparedness strategies.
