Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) released the following statement of support for the establishment of the Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity:

“As someone who grew up on a family farm in rural Illinois and now serves on the House Agriculture Committee, I understand the value in helping rural America’s agriculture prosper, because it will lead to future growth and quality of life for all Americans. Agriculture is Nebraska’s number one industry contributing over $23 billion to our economy. It is a critical catalyst for many of the businesses in the second congressional district, including commodity exchange companies, processing plants and financial institutions. The Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity created by President Trump will work to remove barriers to economic prosperity through policy suggestions.  These policies may include advancing the adoption of innovations and technology for ag production; improving food safety; expanding educational opportunities in areas of ag science and technology; and furthering America’s energy security by advancing traditional and renewable energy production. I look forward to seeing the work of this taskforce come to fruition and improve our rural ag economy.”Programs like these will help keep agriculture strong and at the forefront of national treasures now and into the future.
