Bacon Votes to Reopen the Government and End the Democrat Leadership Shutdown

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement after voting to reopen the government and end the Democrat leadership shutdown:

"I voted yes to open the government back up after this unnecessary and damaging shutdown perpetrated by Congressional Democrat leaders that achieved nothing. Today’s vote funds three of twelve appropriations bills through September 30th next year and funds the rest of government through January 31st. It brings back the 1.4 million federal workers, restores their paychecks, and gets SNAP benefits going again for the 42 million Americans who rely on them. House Democrats who voted against this are opposing the unions representing federal employees and air traffic controllers, and millions of Americans who simply want their government open. I’m grateful to the eight Senate Democrats who stood up to their leadership and voted to end this harmful shutdown. Most in the GOP are ready to negotiate and find a bipartisan, reasonable consensus on the ACA tax credits."
