Washington, D.C. – Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement ahead of the House Armed Services Committee hearing on “Ending the U.S. Military Mission in Afghanistan.” The committee will receive testimony from Department of Defense leadership on the issues surrounding the decision to withdraw forces from Afghanistan and the consequences of the President’s actions.

“I look forward to Secretary Austin, General Milley, and General McKenzie’s testimony at tomorrow’s HASC hearing. We need answers on how the President’s decision to withdraw forces from Afghanistan has become the worst national security debacle in a generation and why we left behind fellow Americans and Afghan allies. I served in the Air Force for nearly 30 years and unquestionably know that we should never leave Americans and allies behind. Now, our enemies are emboldened, and our nation is vulnerable to future attacks.”
