Rep. Bacon Applauds House Passage of NDAA

Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018. Introduced by Representative Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Armed Services, the NDAA provides the readiness, resources, and reform needed to strengthen the U.S. military.

“The National Defense Authorization Act implements the most sacred obligation entrusted to Congress by the Constitution—to provide for the common defense-- and also exemplifies the spirit of bi-partisan cooperation, compromise, and civility that honors the best traditions of this body. The NDAA will help modernize our military equipment, restore our military readiness, and provide a much-deserved pay raise to our troops, like those who serve at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. I congratulate the leadership, commitment, and insight of Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-TX) for leading this effort to strengthen our military and put the security of Americans first.”

Note: At a Press Conference following the passage of the NDAA on Friday, Rep. Bacon stated, “We don’t want a close fight with our military.  When we have dominance, it helps lead to deterrence and peace through strength.” Watch the full remarks  here.
