Bacon Selected as Chair of CITI Subcommittee
Washington, D.C. —Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) announced that Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), has selected him to serve as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Cyber, Information Technologies, and Innovation (CITI). “America has the best cyber capabilities in the world, but we are also the most vulnerable,” said Bacon.“I’m excited and grateful to use my four decades of national security experience to further strengthen our nation’s security. It is what I love doing the most. I thank Chairman Rogers for the opportunity to serve at a greater level.” “As Chairman of the Quality of Life Panel, Rep. Bacon has been a tireless advocate for our servicemembers and military families. Rep. Bacon is a proven leader for national defense, and I am proud to announce that he will serve as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Cyber, Information Technologies, and Innovation,” said Chairman Rogers. “Staying ahead of our adversaries in the digital space is vital. I know Rep. Bacon will bring valuable knowledge and expertise to the subcommittee and I look forward to continuing our work together to strengthen our military.” Bacon also said he has enjoyed serving as Chairman of the Quality of Life Panel. “We did some incredible work on the Quality of Life panel, identifying multiple areas in which we can improve life for those serving our great country,” said Bacon. “We came up with 35 recommendations this year and I look forward to making those into law for our all-volunteer force.” The CITI Subcommittee has jurisdiction over Department of Defense policy related to the acquisition of computer software, the electromagnetic spectrum, and electromagnetic warfare; and Department ofDefense policy and programs and accounts related to artificial intelligence, cyber security, cyber operations, cyber forces, information technology, and science and technology (including defense-wide programs and accounts related to research, development, testing, and evaluation, except for those defense-wide programs and accounts related to research, development, testing, and evaluation of missile defense systems). |
