Washington, D.C. – Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today attended a press conference asking his Democratic colleagues in both the House and Senate to urge Speaker Pelosi and Leader Hoyer to postpone any vote on the reconciliation bill until CBO has scored and released a full analysis of the final text. A letter was signed by almost every Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives, including Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, Whip Steve Scalise, Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, and House Budget Committee Ranking Member Jason Smith. “President Biden promised he would work with both Republicans and Democrats to get things done in D.C., but he has broken that promise. We are more divided than ever as we blindly vote on bills without knowing the cost,” said Rep. Bacon. “I thank the few Democrat colleagues of mine who have asked for the dollar amount, and I urge them to stay strong and stand up against Speaker Pelosi’s effort to break the rules, costing American taxpayers their hard-earned money. Congress holds the purse, and we owe it to our constituents to remain fiscally conservative with our federal spending.” Photos from today’s press conference can be found here. ### |
