Tour Request

Our office is happy to announce that the Capitol will resume staff-led tours in three phases. However, due to the rules and policies imposed by House leadership, our office can only provide one tour per week to a maximum of 15 visitors. For this reason, our office will only give tours on Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m. EST. Visitors must contact our office no later than Friday of the previous week.

While White House tours are recommencing, few details have been provided to our office. Additionally, most White House tours are fully booked, making a White House tour unlikely.

Phase One
Beginning March 28, Capitol authorities will boost the “official visitor” limit from nine to 15 people per tour. School groups will also be allowed back in the Capitol Monday through Friday. Capitol tour guides will be available for two tours per hour for school children. These tours will be limited to 50 students for a total of eight tours per day.

Phase Two
Beginning May 30, there will be a limited reopening of the Capitol Visitor Center. The details of what exactly this will look like are still being worked out.

Phase Three
A full reopening of the Capitol is expected around Labor Day. However, this date is highly tentative and subject to change. Senior officials from the House and Senate leadership, key committees involved in the planning, U.S. Capitol Police, and the House and Senate sergeants at arms offices will notify the Congressional offices if anything changes.

As tours begin to resume in Washington D.C., please contact our office at 202-225-4155 for further details regarding your visit to the U.S. Capitol.
