Bacon Praises Congress for Passing Tax Fix for Gold Star Families

Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) today joined his colleagues in passing bi-partisan legislation to fix the tax application on benefits paid to survivors of deceased family members. On a 417-3 vote, H.R. 1994 The Secure Act, was passed. It included language from H.R. 2481 which addressed the tax issue.

“The benefits our Gold Star families receive are vital to the support of their families and I made it a priority to fix the unintended consequences of changes to the tax code meant to affect only high-income earners who were hiding it under the names of their children,” said Rep. Bacon. “Congress did what Americans expect them too; come together and find common ground to get legislation passed.
