Rep. Bacon Announces 2017 Congressional Art Competition Winners

– Today, Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) announced the Second District’s winning artists of the 2017 Congressional Art Competition.  

Bacon worked with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to coordinate the competition.  The first-place artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.  Bacon will display the runners-up in his Washington, D.C., and Omaha offices.

“I appreciate the creative students across the Second District who participated in the 2017 Congressional Art Competition. Thank you to all the parents and teachers for supporting and encouraging these amazing artists,” said Rep. Bacon “Congratulations to this year’s winners, whose work will be a solid example of the inventiveness and talents of Nebraska’s youth.”

First Place: “Cultural Artifacts” by Ms. Afiya Madut
Ms. Madut’s work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Second Place: “Peonies” by Mr. Bae Reh
Mr. Reh’s work will be displayed in Bacon’s Washington, D.C. office.
