Rep. Bacon Objects to UN Security Resolution

Bacon Reaffirms his Resolute Commitment to Israel

Today, Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) voted for House Resolution 11 objecting to the United Nations Security Resolution (UNSCR 2334) that passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 342-80.  Congressman Bacon released the following statement:

I voted to oppose the recent UN Security Council Resolution against Israel and called for its immediate repeal.  Breaking with longstanding US policy, the Obama Administration failed to use its veto to stop this unfair and dangerous action against our oldest friend, ally and democratic partner in the Middle East,” said Congressman Bacon.  “As promised during the campaign, I will be a forceful advocate for Israel’s security and look forward to joining the next Administration in strengthening our relationship with the one nation in the Middle East that respects the rights of all to practice their religion of choice.”

The bipartisan resolution that did not outline any tangible consequences for the UN against its action, condemned the Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank and eastern Jersualem “illegal.”
