Rep. Bacon Statement on Tax Cuts and Jobs Act

Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) released the following statement after House leadership and the Ways and Means Committee introduced the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act:

“Nebraskans and Americans across the country have suffered long enough under a broken tax code that is burdensome, unfair and too expensive to comply with. Today, House Leadership and the Ways and Means Committee introduced the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which will simplify the tax code, spur economic growth, and end loopholes. Under this plan, the average middle-class family of four making $59,000 will receive a $1,182 tax cut. Americans will keep more of their hard-earned wages. In addition, this legislation focuses on American families by expanding the Child Tax Credit from $1,000 to $1,600.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act allows American businesses to be competitive and thrive in the global market. Our companies face the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world, sending jobs and income out of the country. By lowering our corporate and small business tax rates, our employers can invest in our communities and put Americans back to work. I look forward to working with my House colleagues to refine this bill as we work through the legislative process.”
