Bacon Votes Against Partisan 14 Percent Non-Defense Spending Increase

“Americans can’t afford it”

Washington, DC – Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today released the following statement after voting against H.R. 8294, the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act of 2023.

“With inflation at an all-time high of 9.1 percent and a national debt of over $30 trillion, I refuse to allow Congress to make American taxpayers give up more of their hard-earned money. We need to limit, not expand, excessive federal spending. Not only does this partisan minibus increase non-defense discretionary spending by 14 percent and put our nation more in debt, it also ignores America’s economic, energy, border, and supply chain crises.”
