Congressman Bacon’s MLK Day Statement

Highlights the Need for Leadership as Means of Growth in America

(Omaha, Neb.) Today, Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) in anticipation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day to be celebrated tomorrow, Monday, January 16, released the following statement.

Congressman Bacon’s statement:

“Throughout the history of the United States, our nation has always relied on leaders who have the courage to help our great country grow and advance. Dr. King was a true American leader who showed tremendous courage in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles in the quest for civil rights, paying the ultimate sacrifice in this struggle to improve the lives of generations of Americans to come.”

Congressman Bacon added, “Dr. King was right in that if we should be judged, it should be for the content of our character.”

Congressman Bacon is participating in events honoring Dr. King tonight and tomorrow throughout the Second Congressional District of Nebraska.

Celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. annually, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday, observed on the third Monday of January.
