Bacon Responds to Secretary of Defense’s Rescission of DoD Vaccine Mandate

Washington, DC –Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today released the following statement after the Department of Defense rescinded the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for servicemembers.

“I am pleased that House Republicans were able to force an end to the Department of Defense’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, a policy that the courts and a majority of Congress agreed was problematic on multiple levels.  As the pandemic has receded, it was clear that our military cannot afford to lose more servicemembers to an administrative policy that had become self-defeating.  Repealing this mandate allows the military to recruit and retain the volunteers that are required to defend the nation. With this issue behind us, I look forward to working on other recruiting and retention challenges in the 118th Congress to ensure our military can maintain its highest level of readiness.”
