Starts Work on Sub-Committees for House Armed Services Committee

This week, Congressman Don Bacon (NE-2) was appointed to the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee and Military Personnel Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee which will enable him to follow through on his commitments to national security and military readiness.

The Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee conducts oversight of ammunition programs, Army and Air Force acquisition programs, as well as all Navy and Marine Corps aviation programs.

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry (TX-13) said “Congressman Bacon’s experience as a retired Air Force Brigadier General and combat veteran gives him first-hand knowledge on what is needed to modernize our tactical communications and combat programs, to ensure our Armed Forces have what they need to prevail in every domain and against every threat. He is a welcome addition to the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee”

“Our national security depends on the strength and readiness of our Armed Forces.  Our government must provide support to and prepare our armed services for the challenges they will face today and in the future,” said Congressman Bacon.  “Our military forces must be ready and equipped to operate under intense and dangerous situations. Not only must we modernize their equipment and programs, we must ensure the personnel operating the equipment have the right training to succeed.”

The Military Personnel Subcommittee is responsible for military personnel policy, reserve component integration and employment issues, military health care, military education and POW/MIA issues.

“Having served nearly 30 years as a leader in the Armed Services, Congressman Bacon understands developing and delivering personnel policies and programs that contribute to the stability and well-being of our Armed Forces,” added Committee Chairman Thornberry.  “On the Military Personnel Subcommittee, Congressman Bacon will work to ensure our troops and their loved ones are receiving the first-class benefits they deserve.”

“Our troops and their families have the right to feel secure knowing that military personnel policies including health care and education will be supportive of them and their livelihoods,” added Congressman Bacon. “I look forward to serving on both of these committees and representing the very people I once served and lived with.”
