Bacon Issues Statement on Durham Probe

Washington – Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today issued a statement regarding the release of findings by Special Counsel John Durham on the Trump-Russia probe:

“The Durham probe confirmed what we suspected that the previous FBI leadership became corrupted by their partisan agenda. The former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and former FBI Deputy Assistant Director Peter Strzok decided to investigate Donald Trump for colluding with Russia, though the only evidence in their possession was the fake dossier created by the Clinton Campaign Team, a dossier that they knew contained falsehoods. We already learned there was no Trump-Russia collusion from the Mueller Report.

These FBI leaders clearly usurped everything our country’s justice system stands on and failed to “uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law.” As former leaders of the FBI, they acted dishonorably and breached their oaths of office and their duty to our country, and failed the rank and file of the FBI who are patriots and defenders. While I do not support former President Trump for the Republican nomination, I fully support his constitutional rights and this investigation should never have happened.  It undermined the Administration for two years, which was wrong. The FBI agents in our country deserved better.  Our citizens deserved better too. The current FBI leadership needs to repair the damage that has been done.”
