Bacon Votes to Halt the Flow of Fentanyl

Washington – Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement after voting yes on H.R. 467 the HALT Fentanyl Act:

“In order to stop fentanyl trafficking, not only do we need to secure the border, but we need to make sure that those who are convicted of fentanyl trafficking pay their criminal fines and serve their jail sentences. Traffickers are making slight changes to fentanyl, making it so they do not fall under the Schedule 1 classification. By making fentanyl-related substances a part of that classification, we can directly target those who are ripping apart our families with drug crimes and addiction.”
