Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) released the following statement regarding the bi-partisan passage of the 2017 Defense Appropriations Bill:
"This week, the House of Representatives sent a strong bi-partisan message of support to the men and women of our Armed Forces by voting 371-48 to pass the 2017 Defense Appropriations Bill. Passage of this important measure will fund military pay and benefits; training and readiness programs; and required modernizations and innovations. This bill is the first step in reversing the decline in readiness and preventing further erosion of our combat capabilities. I urge the Senate to quickly move this bill to the President’s desk and call on all members of Congress to end the irresponsible practice of short-term budget resolutions and pass our appropriation bills on time every year."
