Rep. Bacon Votes to Pass CR To Keep the Government Open

Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today released the following statement on the passage of the House CR:

“I've said for months that a small handful of GOP members would never support efforts to keep government open no matter how conservative the options, and that we would need a bipartisan approach. We had the best border security policy with also spending cuts on the floor yesterday and they still opposed them because it wasn't conservative enough.

President Reagan reminded us that the person who agrees with you eighty percent of the time is a friend and an ally, not a twenty percent traitor.  Leadership requires us to find compromise and to reach across the aisle of political differences. Today, we kept the government open, and it required a bipartisan vote to do so. The only people who benefit from a government shutdown are the Chinese, Russians, Iranians, Border Cartels and those who wanted to blame GOP for the shutdown. I'm an American first, not a partisan first representative of NE02.”
