Bacon Issues Statement on Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act of 2023

Washington –  Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) issued a statement on his vote for H.R. 5283 Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act of 2023. It would prohibit federal funds from being used to provide housing to illegal aliens on any land under the jurisdiction of any of the four federal land management agencies. It would also revoke the lease agreement finalized on September 15, 2023, by the National Park Service (NPS) with New York City, which authorized establishment of temporary housing for aliens within the Gateway National Recreation Area.

“President Biden’s immigration policies, or lack thereof, have led to an influx of illegal immigrants being released into the United States. Even New York City Mayor Eric Adams has said that this issue will destroy New York City, and that ‘the President ad the White House have failed New York City.’ Providing these individuals with housing paid for with federal funds is wrong.”
