Rep. Bacon Votes to Fund U.S. Military and Community Health Centers

Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) joined his House colleagues in voting to fully fund the Department of Defense for one year and extend community health care funding:

“For the fourth time, this legislative body has passed funding to adequately support our military and its operations. Our troops have been stretched too thin and have suffered far too long resulting in training accidents, shortfalls in operations and maintenance, and outdated equipment.

Today, we have appropriated more than $659 billion in defense funding to end the professional malpractice of passing continuing resolutions (CRs). Operating under CRs compromise our safety and security, and prohibit advancements in readiness, training, and modernization and leaves our troops behind on the battlefield.

This legislation also contains critical provisions to extend all public health extenders including community health center funding and the Special Diabetes Program for two years. These programs are vital to our constituents in Nebraska’s Second District as community health centers provide care for nearly 85,000 Nebraskans.

I look forward to working with my House colleagues to pass appropriations bills for each agency to ensure all federal agencies can fully operate and best serve the public.”
