Rep. Bacon Statement on Passage of STOP School Violence Act

Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) released the statement below following the House passage of a bill he cosponsors, the STOP School Violence Act:

“The STOP School Violence Act is a necessary first step to address school security issues in this country. This legislation provides $75 million per year from Fiscal Year 2019 to 2028 to be used for active shooter training, technology advancements, and hard infrastructure improvements including metal detectors. I will continue exploring ways to improve school safety through my leadership of the Main Street Caucus School Safety Working Group and advocating for increased funding for critical grants that (1) provide funding for foundational research, so that we can fully understand the root causes of school violence; (2) craft strategies related to increased school safety; and (3) provide funding for pilot projects related to securing schools.”
