OMAHA, NE - Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) today released the following statement regarding the death of Mollie Tibbetts:

"The murder of Mollie Tibbetts is tragic and our hearts go out to her family and friends. The fact that the confessed murderer was in our country illegally, once again makes clear that we must enforce the rule of law and secure our borders.

I’ve voted twice to build a stronger physical and electronic security system along our border, a nationwide implementation and enforcement of a strong E-Verify system, stop catch and release, add immigration judges, and work towards a more merit based immigration system. We didn’t receive a single vote from the Democrats on securing our border. We must come together and fix our broken border and insufficient immigration system. Border security is national security and makes our communities safer."
