Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) released the following statement after the House passed the 116th Congress Rules Package bill:

"I would have liked to support the rules package put forth today, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted on rules for the House that makes it easier to raise taxes, allows raising the debt ceiling without a vote, and would allow appropriation amendments to increase spending without offsets."

"I was hoping for a set of rules that would increase transparency, but instead this package does the opposite. We must work together, but an unchecked ability to raise spending and the federal government’s debt, and lowering the threshold to raise taxes are not the way to do it."
