Bacon Releases Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Statement
Omaha, NE,
January 21, 2019
OMAHA, NE - Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) today released a statement regarding Martin Luther King Jr. Day: “Today we remember and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream for America. As one of the most important voices of the American Civil Rights Movement, he made it his life’s mission to fight for social justice and to fight for a nation where compassion and civility defeat prejudice and hate. His principles and the sacrifices he made to advance them will continue to live on for generations.” “One of my favorite quotes of Dr. King’s is, "Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?" Dr. King dedicated his life to helping others, and in turn, made the world a better place. He worked with people of all races and backgrounds with the goal of helping others. In the face of adversity and hate, he stood tall. Now it is our turn. “As we begin this new year, I ask that we remember his principles in moments of hardship and disagreement, and work to better the lives of those around you, and towards the betterment of our country. Let his words be a reminder, and his actions an example. “Let us honor Dr. King not just today, but every day, and strive to change the world and bring civility, compassion, and selflessness back into our country.” |
