Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) released the following statement regarding the vote on Democratic leadership's bill, H.R. 986:

“Protecting those with pre-existing coverage is important to me, which is why I am a co-sponsor of H.R. 692, The Pre-existing Conditions Act of 2019. But today legislation was brought to the floor that supposedly protects individuals with preexisting conditions. However, it does nothing of the sort and the title of the bill is deceptive.  Preexisting conditions are currently covered and this makes zero impact despite the misleading title. The only thing this bill does is cancel an administration’s guidance that would help states foster innovative approaches to health care.”
