Congressman Don Bacon today delivered a blistering speech against the un-needed resolution introduced by House Democrats that would weaken America and embolden its enemies. He then voted no on the resolution.
“I knew who Soleimani was when I was in Iraq. We were targeted by rockets every single day from Iranian proxies trained in, funded and armed by Iran – and sometimes led by Iranian commanders,” Rep. Bacon said in his speech. “This resolution is not needed. The War Powers Act is still in effect and the President is not conducting combat operations against Iran. He wants de-escalation.”
Rep. Bacon served 16 assignments covering four deployments to the Middle East, including a year in Iraq from 2007 to 2008 during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. For thirty years, the Congressman specialized in electronic warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and has been aware of the dangerous threat of General Soleimani. He said he voted no because the President is showing restraint.
“A House divided will not stand,” Rep. Bacon added. “I pray wise leadership prevails and that we unify in the face of this evil.”
