DON'T MISS OUT ON WHAT'S HAPENNING
LEGISLATIVE DIGEST & CONSTITUENT SERVICES
Dear Danielle,

DON'T MISS OUT ON WHAT'S HAPPENING!

I feel it is very important to stay in touch with you and let you know what is happening in DC. However, we are about to enter what is called "blackout period;" a 90-day period before an election in which our office cannot send any unsolicited mass mail.  This means our office cannot send you any mass newsletters, via standard mail or email, unless you opt in to receive them. This also means we cannot notify you about upcoming town halls or other community events, unless you are signed up to receive the information. You can sign up here.

LEGISLATIVE DIGEST

As part of my constituent outreach, I send out email newsletters called the "Legislative Digest" with information about legislation that may not have been covered by the press. Last week, two bills passed under suspension. That means there was no opposition to the bills the House of Representatives passed under a voice vote. The first was H.R. 4305 Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers for Veterans Therapy Act , which would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to conduct a pilot program to provide grants to nonprofits to teach veterans with PTSD to train service dogs. The second was H.R. 3830 Taxpayers Right to Know Act, which would  create a federal program inventory that is centralized and available online to the public. In order to receive those Legislative Digests, just sign up for my newsletter!

CONSTITUENT SERVICES

Finally, I come across many people in our District that don't know what services a Congressional District Office offers to constituents. Some of the many services include:

  • Can't get an answer from a federal agency, or have you been treated unfairly? Our office may be able to help resolve a problem or get the information you need. while we cannot guarantee a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response.
  • Each spring, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor a nationwide art competition. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent in our youth. It is open to all high school students in our District and the winner will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

As I said, I want to be able to regularly share this information with you, but will not be able to once we enter the "blackout period." So don't delay and sign up for my newsletter! Newsletter sign-up
