Bacon Announces No Vote on Remote Voting Bill

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement regarding his upcoming no vote on H. Res. 965:

“I will be voting with a resounding no on H.Res. 965 for many reasons, with one being that it would allow the House to remain in recess until July 21. Congress needs to get back to work to help America recover. Not sit on the sidelines. Further, this provision makes it easier for the Speaker to run the House by herself while members are in home districts. It consolidates power more easily at the top of the House and will diminish the voice of Nebraska. The House consists of 435 members and not just the Speaker. We’ve already seen her craft a $3 trillion bill without one input from a single Republican nor from most Democrats.”
