OMAHA, NE - Congressman Don Bacon issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s Executive Order for Safe Policing for All Americans:

“The President’s actions regarding changes in law enforcement practices are positive steps and balanced. They will keep our communities safe and improve equitable treatment by fostering stronger ties between those communities and law enforcement.

“These positive steps will include the implementation of best practices for de-escalation, use of force in deadly situations and community engagement. Also, a system will be created to share information about incidents of excessive force, which will create better transparency.

“The vast majority of our law enforcement officers are brave Americans who put their lives on the line every day to ensure our safety. I stand by them and applaud our local law enforcement agencies who have long been on the forefront of accountability and strengthening ties in the community.”
