Bacon Announces Offutt Selected as Finalist for New Space Command HQ

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) today announced that the U.S. Air Force has informed him that Offutt Air Force Base has been selected as one of the six finalists to be home to the United States Space Command.

“As one of the earliest advocates for the Space Command, I applaud this announcement,” said Rep Bacon, a member of the House Armed Services Committee and House Space Force Caucus.  “America’s national security and economic prosperity depend on our access to space and this reliance will only increase over time.  It’s great to see the Pentagon recognize that Nebraska and Offutt Air Force Base are ideal locations for the missions that matter most.”

Rep. Bacon served at the base three times during his nearly thirty-year career, including his time as the commander of the 55th Wing. Offutt is one of the top three employers in the Omaha area.
