Rep. Bacon Votes Against Nearly $2 Trillion Partisan “COVID” Bill
Washington,
February 27, 2021
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021: “Only nine percent of this $1.9 trillion so called “rescue” plan focuses on COVID health, while the remaining amount goes to progressive priorities, including funding abortion providers like Planned Parenthood and pet projects like Pelosi’s subway and Schumer’s bridge. In addition, $1 trillion of the $4 trillion from the previously approved COVID relief packages has yet to be spent. “Therefore, I voted against Speaker Pelosi’s nearly $2 trillion partisan relief package. While we have helped American workers, families, and businesses recover from lockdowns, Congress needs to use that unspent funding first before appropriating an additional $1.9 trillion; instead, it sits untouched. We should focus on targeting these funds to those who need it most.” ### |
