Rep. Bacon Named by Speaker Ryan as HASC Conferee to NDAA Conference Committee

Today, Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) was named by Speaker Paul Ryan as a House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Conferee to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Committee. A Conference Committee is appointed to resolve differences between the U.S. House and Senate versions of passed legislation.

“With nearly 30 years of experience in the Air Force including two tours as a Base Commander, three tours commanding smaller units, and four deployments across the globe, Rep. Bacon brings unique experience and knowledge to the conference committee as they work to balance the Senate and House versions of the NDAA,” said Speaker Ryan. “I am confident Don and the rest of the conference committee will ensure our service members have the training and tools they need to make sure they are successful.”

“I appreciate the trust Speaker Ryan has placed in me as I work with the Committee to complete a final NDAA bill and secure the readiness of our Armed Services,” said Rep. Bacon. “I have seen firsthand the challenges that face our men and women in uniform and I look forward to working with my fellow conferees to modernize our joint forces, including cybersecurity, and better readiness and training.”

Once the Conference Committee resolves the difference, identical measures will be presented back to the House and Senate for a vote and then presented to the President.
