Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) has been appointed to the Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry (TX-13). The Air Force Academy Board of Visitors is a federal advisory committee comprised of appointees made by the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, and the Chairmen of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees. The role of the Board is to act as an independent civilian advisory council and to provide recommendations on the curriculum, instruction, discipline and other matters related to the Air Force Academy. Congressman Bacon is one of fifteen appointees to the Board. “I thank Chairman Thornberry for appointing me to serve on the Board of Visitors,” said Rep. Bacon. “I look forward to working to ensure the Air Force Academy prepares our young men and women to lead the nation’s Air Force with integrity, courage, and vision.” “Don’s career in the Air Force and his work on the House Armed Services Committee makes him an excellent fit to serve on the Board,” said Chairman Thornberry. “As a career Airman who served for many years on active duty around the world, Don knows first-hand the knowledge and character required of our officer corps. His combat experience and multiple assignments as a commanding officer will be a tremendous asset to the Board, the Academy, and our Air Force.” The Board meets at least four times per year and prepares semiannual reports for the Secretary of Defense, through the Secretary of the Air Force, and the Senate and House Armed Services committees that provide oversight of the military service academies. ### |
