Rep. Bacon Issues Statement on Government Funding
Washington, DC, December 21, 2018
Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) released the following statement after the House passed a year end spending bill:
“It is unconscionable that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi want to kick the can down the road once again regarding border security, which is national security. They offer no compromises. Sen. Schumer owes the American people a compromise to prevent a filibuster instead of digging in his heels. This is not only about illegal immigration, but also about combatting human trafficking, fentanyl and terrorism."
"We should resolve this now and we should listen to the Border Patrol who says they need a wall in certain areas to ensure the security of our nation. Seeking an agreement on border security must trump partisanship and hate for the President. Let’s find a compromise and make a bipartisan agreement that secures our border. And, we shouldn’t need a government shutdown to find a compromise solution.”
