BACON FIGHTS FOR FAMILY FARMS IN NEBRASKA

Omaha, Neb. – Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today released the following statement after attending a press conference with the Nebraska Farm Bureau at Husker Harvest Days.

“During my time in Congress, I have met countless farmers, ranchers, and producers in Nebraska that have helped our state thrive and strengthened our local economy. However, many family farms that have been operating for generations will suffer under the proposed tax hikes and federal overreach proposed by House Democrats.

“Speaker Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are willing to let Nebraska family farms wilt, to pay for their $3.5 trillion partisan wish list. Further, trying to reinstate Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) will add onerous red tape and restrictions on farmers and ranchers. Since his inauguration, the President has made zero effort to expand trade opportunities for our agriculture.

“As a member of the House Ag Committee, I am defending these hard-working Americans from the Administration that treats Nebraska agriculture as simply ‘fly-over country.’ I will always advocate for legislation that protects stepped up basis; makes crop insurance more affordable; keeps WOTUS off the backs of farmers and ranchers; and expands trade.”
